The Centre Directors - Jennifer Holmes and Bryony Sofianos

I have over 15 years teaching experience and have been a Learn and Laugh director since 2010. I am excited to be part of the team at Learn and Laugh Woolooware.

I love education whether I am learning or teaching. I have completed a Masters of Teaching Primary and a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. My teaching philosophy is very much inspired by Reggio Emilia and by Magda Gerber’s RIE approach. I believe children and babies are capable learners who deserve respect and the best learning environments we can offer.

What I enjoy most about my work is knowing I am making a difference. Early childhood is such an important time. Being granted the privilege of shaping young minds and caring for our future generation is priceless.

My mission for our centre is to provide a warm and welcoming space for children to learn to their highest potential while having fun and knowing they truly belong.

It is a privilege to introduce myself as the co-director of Woolooware Learn and Laugh. My young family and I have just immigrated from South Africa, where I worked in the early childhood space for over 15 years. I have also held various leadership roles and I love mentoring and developing others to reach their unique potential.

I completed my Bachelors degree in early childhood development and foundation phase in 2009 and went on to study my honours degree in learning support. Over the years I have been afforded many opportunities to grow and develop my knowledge in Early Childhood development philosophies and methods. I enjoy taking inspiration from various theories to build a rich learning environment, where children of all ages can explore, create and learn, especially through open-ended resources.

As a mother myself, to two very busy young boys – I know the importance of having your child in an environment where they feel loved, safe and comfortable to be themselves. I hope to create a warm and welcoming environment at Woolooware, alongside my co-director Jennifer, where you as parents feel comfort in knowing your children are in capable, caring hands. I look forward to meeting you all and starting your child’s learning journey soon.
