About Learn & Laugh Children’s centre in Lewisham
Learn & Laugh has been part of the Lewisham community since 2015, providing a welcoming, family-style early learning environment for children and families across Lewisham and Sydney’s Inner West.
Our purpose-built Lewisham childcare centre is licensed for up to 86 children and is thoughtfully divided into five age-specific rooms, creating learning environments that are designed around each stage of your child’s early years. Our dedicated educators provide a caring and homely atmosphere where children can learn, explore, develop confidence and build meaningful relationships.
Purpose-Built Learning Spaces for Every Age
Our five rooms provide children with age-appropriate spaces and experiences designed to support their individual development.
The Nursery has its own dedicated outdoor space, providing our youngest children with a safe and inviting environment to explore. Our Toddler room has a separate outdoor area designed specifically for their stage of development, while our Junior, Senior and Preschool rooms share another dedicated learning environment and outdoor space.
Our outdoor areas include undercover spaces that allow children to play outdoors throughout the year, whatever the weather. This means children can continue to enjoy fresh air, active play and outdoor learning even when the weather isn’t on our side.
Fresh Meals Cooked On Site
Good food is an important part of a child’s day at Learn & Laugh Lewisham. Our dedicated cook prepares fresh meals on site each day, providing nutritious and delicious food for the children in our care.
Convenient Childcare in Sydney’s Inner West
Located at 120A Old Canterbury Road, Learn & Laugh Lewisham is conveniently positioned for families living and working throughout the Inner West, including Dulwich Hill and Summer Hill.
Our centre is easy to access by car, public transport or on foot. Families who walk to and from the centre can take advantage of our designated indoor pram storage area.
For convenient drop-off and pick-up, we have 12 visitor car parking spaces in our on-site basement car park, with additional on-street parking available nearby.
Our centre is also well connected by public transport, with the light rail just a 3-minute walk away and Lewisham train station approximately a 10-minute walk away.

If only I could rate 10 stars! My son has been attending Learn and Laugh Lewisham for over 2 years now (he is 3). My son absolutely loves it there, he hugs the carers on arrival. All of the ladies who work there are absolutely lovely and their input has been no less than essential to me. My son had hearing issues and I wouldn’t have picked up on it for a long time if they didn't notice and suggest he get his hearing checked early. Not only that, they also went so far as to book me an appointment with a speech therapist whom of which we still see today. I am forever grateful to the Learn and Laugh Lewisham team for that. Every day is filled with different interactive and educational activities led and set up by the carers. The cook who prepares their meals is amazing and very attentive to dietary requirements so you can rest assured your child will be fed well balanced, healthy and delicious meals while there. At the end of each day they email you a comprehensive report complete with photos. Every morning the ladies are interested in how your child slept, how they feel and if they ate breakfast. They really do care about the children they care for and I feel truly lucky that I chose such a great child care facility for my son to attend. I'd like to sincerely thank Melissa, Lily and the whole team for taking such excellent care of my son and giving me complete peace of mind while he is in their care. His hugs and elation on arrival at Learn and Laugh Lewisham says it all!

Learn and Laugh Lewisham exceeds my expectations. The carers are so loving and attentive and I especially notice the respect and gentleness in the tones that they use when addressing the children. I now have no problem leaving my son, knowing that he is in the best hands, with people who genuinely care about his wellbeing. The carers are great at noticing interests that children may have, and incorporating that subject in the days activities. The thorough verbal reports I get from the carers in the afternoons demonstrate the level of interest they take in each individual child. A few other things to note, Meals for the children are provided, offering a delicious (so my son tells me) and nutritious variety. They offer a brilliant dinner service, where you can purchase very affordable meals to take home at the end of the day, which is such a brilliant initiative for busy working parents. They also use an app that delivers photos and videos throughout the day, which is great to get an insight into what your child is up to. At the end of the day they email a report outlining how long they slept, what and how much they ate, and any other information they want to convey.

My son has been attending Learn & Laugh in Lewisham for just over 3 years and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The educators care dearly for the children (it's like an extended family!) and are very inclusive with parents. There is a focus on the individual child's needs when required, rather than a blanket approach, and a high level of support for the whole family. My son has some additional needs and L&L have been fantastically supportive, working with us and his O/T to build a suitable framework for him and help us meet his development goals. It's a beautiful space and the children all clearly enjoy the outdoor space and facilities. My son is very happy here and I will be very sad when it's time to move on and leave this wonderful, safe sanctuary!

The educators are kind and caring and passionate about what they do. Melissa, the director is approachable and has a great handle on things. I have two boys at Learn & Laugh and can't rate them highly enough. My eldest son has been there since the day it opened and the centre has only gone from strength-to-strength since then. There is a very low staff turnover and they're all so loving a caring to the kids. Communication is excellent and the introduction of home made dinners to take home has been a blessing! Both my boys love Learn & Laugh and feel at home there and I know when I drop them off they are going to have a day filled with fun and activities.

My child has had very positive experiences from this childcare. The carers are warm and welcoming which makes drop offs much easier. I really like the daily e-mails of my child's day with all the photos. I like how children are segmented in many rooms according to their ages. The centre is responsive to calls and deals appropriately with incidents. The fees are reasonable.

My daughter has been attending Learn and Laugh Lewisham since she was 8 months of age. The moment I had my first tour, I got a great feel for the place and knew it would be the perfect fit for my daughter. I loved how the staff would welcome us at any time of the day to take or daughter for visits prior to beginning her first day. It’s a very warm, homely, welcoming and transparent environment. The staff are extremely professional and loving. My daughter’s language and social skills has come along in leaps and bounds. Her ability to empathise and engage has been improved from her daily interactions and the highly engaging and organised curriculum which is provided in the nursery. Activities are differentiated to meet the variety of ages and my daughter always runs in each day for a cuddle with one of her educators and will communicate her day to me, via the Kindyhub ap where educators regularly upload photos and give a full summary each day. We are so happy with Learn and Laugh and we look forward to our daughter’s continued growth.

I can’t say enough good things about Learn and Laugh Lewisham. My older son has been attending since their first day of operation, and I now have my 2nd son in the toddler room and the baby will start next year. The carers are all fantastic and there is very low staff turnover. Both my boys have really blossomed while in care, the eldest’s writing, counting and reading have really improved in the senior preschool programme. The centre provides all meals (including a hot cooked lunch), and even have a take-home dinner service a few days a week. My kids have been so happy here, so much so that it’s a bit sad the eldest heads to big school next year! Highly recommended!

My daughter (4) and my son (almost 2) love their days at Learn and Laugh. Their carers are genuinely concerned for their growth and happiness and my son has particularly blossomed under their care this past year. I am always amazed at the diversity of ideas, resources and projects going on in the different rooms. It can be hard to say good-bye to your children in the morning, especially when they are in the nursery, but Learn & Laugh make that so much easier. I can go to work knowing they are in safe hands.

After touring many centres, when I walked into Learn and Laugh I knew straight away I’d found the right one. The feel of the place was so lovely- a new purpose built space, with lots of different areas for the children to explore. The attentive and experienced staff and educators added to the calm vibe of the centre. My son loves going to ‘school’ and loves all the activities they do each day- and there’s so many things the kids do each day it’s fantastic! I love getting photos throughout the day too- makes time away from him easier. I have recommended the centre to many friends.

As soon as I did a tour of Learn and laugh at Lewisham I knew it was where I wanted to send my daughter. Compared to other centres i had done tours at the staff seemed more engaged and happier. Another aspect that stood out to me was the level of experience of the educators. There is a really nice mix of educators who have been in the industry for many years and those who have just started out. This results in a great diverse team. There are always initiatives running and a great community vibe. 8 months later and my daughter is still really happy at the centre and I am so happy with my decision! I can't say enough good things about Learn & Laugh Lewisham! Both my sons LOVE going to daycare and with their love and attention, the carers have always made us feel like our kids are the only ones there. They are always on hand to answer questions, give feedback and invite information about our children's interests to help guide their activities. My older son has developed a number of new skills that I truly can attribute to the staff at L&L - learning songs, the alphabet, how to write his name, learning about Aboriginal history, undertaking science experiments and has even experienced visits from the fire department and CPR first aid trainers to learn safety skills. The L&L staff are always available to chat and respond quickly and professionally to any query, and we've loved the community approach that they embrace; clothing & book sharing, organising donations to charities, organising family get-togethers and dinner services to name a few. I have felt 100% confident leaving both my babies in the care of the L&L team; my kids are thriving under the care at Learn & Laugh and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this daycare to anyone! xxx

I have been working in Early Childhood education since 2012. Many of those years placed in leadership roles.
Building strong and nurturing relationships with children, families and the community is at the heart of everything I do.
Throughout my career I have been able to work closely with families and children of all age groups. Taking a particular interest in the part that holistic educational programs and practices have in influencing a child in the first 5 years of their lives.
I strive to build a well-connected and close knit team. Valuing educators’ individual strengths and allowing educators and families to work collaboratively together to achieve the best outcomes for the children in our care and support these children as they learn, grow and discover who they are.
